My graded unit for HND 3D Computer Animation. My chosen brief was to create a character based off of a fantasy novel ,or piece of literature, in 3D. I chose Prince Robot IV from the graphic novel series "Saga" and interpreted him in to my style. We had five weeks to concept and create our characters before presenting our work.  

I wanted the animation to display the character of Prince Robot IV, showing his personality and lifestyle. I also wanted to display advance animation as well as my ability to appropriately frame the shots in my animation.

I researched various components of the character, such as the clothing and accessories they would wear. I also looked into types of animation they would perform during the scene. Finally, I researched environments for my character. In the end, I combined multiple environments together to create the one that is featured in the animation.

This is a page of concept sketches I initially created for my character. They demonstrate a variety of ideas ranging from the type of TV I would use for his head, as well as the type of uniform he would wear. I used mixed media to create these.
